Dr. Eric Johnson's biogrophy
Dr Eric Johnson, National Expert Reviewer for the United Nations Framework Convention on Climate Change (UNFCCC) and managing director of Atlantic Consulting.
Eric Johnson is an expert in greenhouse gas emissions and in environmental impact assessment.
Global warming has been one of his study areas for approximately 15 years, which led him to attend the Kyoto Protocol conference in 1997 and several COPs thereafter. He has conducted numerous studies of greenhouse gas emissions, with a focus on chemical products and fuels, and has testified about these several times to the House of Commons. In late 2006 he was asked to join a working group on CO2 reductions organised by the International Energy Agency. This group is advising the G8 countries on their GHG emission reduction policies as part of the G8’s Gleneagles Plan of Action.
He is Managing Director of Atlantic Consulting, which he co-founded in 1994, and since 1996 he has been editor-in-chief of Environmental Impact Assessment Review, the leading scholarly journal in the field.
Eric Johnson has lived about half his life in the US and half in Europe (Germany, UK and Switzerland), and he is bilingual in English and German. He earned a bachelors degree in chemistry with highest honours and was elected to Phi Beta Kappa. Throughout the 1990s he was based in London; since 2000 he has been based in Zurich.
