Calor's commitment
Calor are committed to minimising the impact of their business on the environment, and have offset the CO2 emissions from the production and distribution of 13kg Patio Gas cylinders.
What's more , investment in telemetry technology for managing gas deliveries to bulk tanks has resulted in a reduction of 10% of the vehicle fleet, and reduced the number of kilometres travelled by 989,680 km. These savings were made against a back drop of increased gas sales.
In addition, LPG is a more environmentally sustainable alternative to other fuels and achieves the following direct savings of CO2 emissions:
- 20% saving on road transport versus petrol
- 13% saving versus heating oil
- Up to 80% versus electricity
Here at Calor, a sustainable approach is central to our culture, indeed our aim has always been to ensure the continued delivery of quality services to our customers right across our business operations
Sustainability: a definition
Calor views sustainable development as a process of improving quality of life (visit www.calor.co.uk/sustainability for more information)
The goals of this process are:
- Living within environmental limits
- Ensuring a strong a and healthy and just society
- Achieving a sustainable economy
- Using sound science responsibly
- Promoting good governance
- To reach these goals, we must acknowledge the complex relationship between the natural environment, people, communities, technology and financial systems
Why is sustainability important
Sustainability is part of our company vision, outlined in our Quality Statement:
We recognise our responsibilities to society and the environment, and we are committed to making a positive contribution to the communities in which we do business
We also recognise however that in addition to the importance of a sustainable approach in its own right that such a commitment makes business sense
- It protects and enhances Calor's reputation
- It helps Calor to attract, retain and motivate employees
- It assists innovation, creativity and learning
- It helps to manage risk
- It is essential in maintaining and improving public trust in Calor
